Do as you are told and nobody will get hurt!

Great minds think alike... and so do Vlad's and the Good Doctor's I guess.

And we both have a Pinky and the Brain fetish too apparently!

From the Aboriginals of the North American continent to the Jewish peoples of Germany to the Palestinians, we have heard this line over and over. "Do as you are told and nobody will get hurt!" In hindsight it is always a euphamism for "do as we tell you and we will get what we want and you will be exterminated".

What we need is a kinder, gentler world domination, Pinky and The Brain style!

Too good. Too good.

Unfortunately I think you and I are the only ones reading this blog!

I kinda like the deafening silence.

Keep up the good work on LTRS.

Doc -

This is essentially what my group and division management told me at their brown bags and group meetings.

"Just keep your head down and keep doing your work and you have nothing to worry about."

Naturally, I already have my head down (nose placed firmly on grindstone, watching sparks fly!) and believe I am doing good work. I am also keeping the job leads I have alive, I don't want to leave early but want to be prepared if I have to and/or if I just get too sad and sick about it all to continue to do my work here well.

When a RIF of 1000 comes down, upper management will preen and say "look how we saved 1500 jobs" while middle/lower management will turn their backs on those they led up the chute to slaughter.

It is *highly* unlikely that *any* deputy group leader or above will be RIFed. At most, a few lower management positions will be eliminated and a few managers will be displaced into the empty spots created by RIFed TSMs. In some cases this will be an improvement for all, in others it will not.

Admittedly, upper management must be star performers (to the LANS board) or they wouldn't be in those positions and recursively down the management chain. We have watched extremely bad management kept on apparently because the folks who hired them cannot admit how bad their judgement was to hire/keep them in the first place.
